eceee, the European Council for an Energy Efficient Economy, is a membership-based non-profit association. As Europe’s largest and oldest NGO dedicated to energy efficiency, we generate and provide evidence-based knowledge and analysis of policies, and we facilitate co-operation and networking.
The Summer Studies are a corner stone in eceee’s ambition to generate the evidence supporting energy efficiency. Since 1993, experts have gathered in a truly informal and solutions-based atmosphere for networking and exchange of ideas and knowledge.
eceee Summer Study 2022
From 6-11 June 2022 in Hyères, France, the eceee Summer Study 2022 took place.
After Covid, the event provided many people with the opportunity to finally attend an in-person event with the subsequent benefits that this entails, especially in regards to networking.
At the same time, the great variety of topics on the different plenaries and sessions (both official and informal) allowed the Efficient Buildings Europe team to gather highly valuable knowledge in many different areas (financing schemes, Energy Performance Certificates, coexistence between renewables and efficiency, multiple benefits…).
Efficient Buildings Europe (formerly EuroACE) took the opportunity to organize an informal session under the title “Can we calculate what we don’t measure? EPC methodologies”. In it, Rob Murray-Leach (Head of Policy at the Energy Efficiency Council) presented the Australian initiative “NABERS“, a rating system that helps you to accurately measure, understand, and communicate the environmental performance of your building while identifying areas for cost savings and future improvements. The nature of the program and its potential applicability on a EU-level created a lively and insightful debate with a wide array of opinions on its functionality and possible replicability.
