2024 was an eventful year. The recast of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) was officially adopted by the EU Institutions, reaffirming the crucial role of buildings in enhancing the EU’s energy efficiency and presenting a unique opportunity for our industry to take centre stage in the path to decarbonisation. Our very own EPBD Implementation Guide
was published, and the Association rebranded as Efficient Buildings Europe, creating an immediate and stronger connection to its mission.
Looking ahead to 2025, topics such as EPBD implementation, the European Affordable Housing Plan, and the Multiannual Financial Framework will be central to the work of Efficient Buildings Europe. These areas offer significant opportunities to further strengthen our position as an influential association in advocacy and policymaking.
A special thank to our valued members for their continued support and active participation in the Association’s activities.
2023 saw monumental achievements in the buildings industry, from the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive negotiations, to the adoption of the Energy Efficiency Directive, to Efficient Buildings Europe celebrating 25 years in business. This all put our industry in the spotlight, and the dialogue on efficient buildings was as active as ever.
With a new Parliament and Commission and national elections across the EU, 2024 is sure to be equally challenging. Efficient Buildings Europe, with the support of our members, is prepared to navigate and overcome these challenges. We would like to extend our gratitude to our members for this unwavering support.

The year 2022 has been one of the busiest and most successful years yet for Efficient Buildings Europe (formerly EuroACE).
The challenging times that we are living through have opened new opportunities and the political attention being given to our concerns has never been greater. On this, we think of the strong and inspiring words that the President of the European Commission delivered in her address to the Renovate Europe Day 2022 event in the European Parliament and to the mention that we got in the Financial Times in December.
Specifically on EU Policy, we focused on the the revisions of key buildings-related directives that arose from the Fit for 55 Package. Adopting an ambitious legislative framework for buildings is crucial for the EU to achieve its 2030 and 2050 targets.
