Joint Statement: An ambitious Renovation Wave now
In a joint statement to the Presidents of the European Commission and the European Council and to the European Parliament, EuroACE and fellow organisations expressed concern about the announced delay of the Renovation Wave and the apparent lack of dedicated EU funding for it.
The foundations for an effective and ambitious Renovation Wave must be:
- Integrated building renovations for energy efficient, renewable-based and flexible buildings, including industrial-style renovations to accelerate speed
- The Energy Efficiency and Renewables First principles, applied to all aspects of building renovations and improving indoor environmental quality, health and wellbeing
- Dedicated financial flows, including a “European Renovation Financing Facility” financed with at least €90 billion per year
- A structured partnership bringing together Member States, regions, financial institutions, consumer organisations and stakeholders to report on progress and identify bottlenecks
