“Top 10” issues for the implementation of the Energy Efficiency Directive
The Energy Efficiency Directive (2012/27/EU) is the headline piece of legislation on which the EU pins its hopes for the 2020 energy efficiency target: if fully implemented, it would deliver about 75% of the improvements needed. To ensure that the potential of energy efficiency in buildings is reached, EuroACE compiled its “Top 10” issues for the implementation of the EED, in descending order of priority, including:
- Comprehensive national long-term renovation roadmaps covering the whole existing building stock
- A detailed inventory, by building type and age, of the existing building stock and its actual energy consumption
- Calculating the potential contribution of deep renovation, including staged deep renovation, to long-term climate and energy goals
- Greater support for energy performance contracting and the energy services market
- Innovative private and public financing instruments to support the renovation of the existing building stock
