Briefing 2/2020: financing deep energy renovation, leveraging the Just Transition Mechanism and carbon revenues

Renovating 97% of the EU building stock will cost in excess of €300 billion a year for the next 30 years: around €1 billion a day until 2050. Yet the International Energy Agency estimates that implementing energy efficiency aggressively could deliver benefits of €500 billion a year, and the EU already faces an annual investment gap of €130-200 billion to meet its 2030 targets.

As part of the #GreenDeal4Buildings campaign, this briefing by the Renovate Europe Campaign looks at how the Just Transition Mechanism and carbon revenues can be leveraged to finance deep energy renovation.
