Efficient Buildings Europe at Enersee's webinar on Building Automation and Control Systems

On 24 February, our Secretary General, Rémi Collombet, joined Joachim Vleminckx, Co-Founder and CEO of Enersee, for a webinar on a key tool to deliver energy savings: Building Automation and Control Systems (BACS). What are the opportunities? What is in the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive? How to anticipate the upcoming requirements?

BACS is not a new technology. What is new is that under the EPBD it is becoming mandatory. Non-residential buildings with heating or cooling systems above 290 kW need BACS, and by 2030 the threshold drops to 70 kW, which means the scope expands fast.

The rule sounds simple, but in practice it is rolled out nationally, with different timelines and different enforcement. For building owners, the question is no longer whether they need BACS, but how to handle BACS across their portfolio and across borders. The webinar looked at what BACS compliance across Europe actually means and how to approach it in a way that scales.
