Efficient Mornings with the Permanent Representations of Portugal and France
In early July, we held two Efficient Morning sessions, meeting José Matos, Energy Attaché at the Permanent Representation of Portugal to the European Union, and Nour Khater, Energy Attaché at the Permanent Representation of France to the European Union, for two discussions on the future of Europe’s energy efficiency agenda.
A key focus of our exchanges was the post-2030 energy efficiency framework and how we can build on the success of the current framework to deliver a stronger, more resilient and competitive Europe.
Europe needs a coherent and ambitious post-2030 energy efficiency framework, grounded in the proven success and regulatory stability provided by the current Energy Efficiency Directive. A clear trajectory and shared objectives are essential to unlock investment in the efficient buildings sector. By strengthening the key provisions of the existing framework, Europe can fully harness the potential of buildings as a cornerstone of a secure, affordable and decarbonised energy system.
Regulatory stability is key to giving businesses and investors the confidence needed to accelerate action, drive innovation and reinforce Europe’s competitiveness.
Thanks to José Matos and Nour Khater for their contributions and perspectives, and to our members for engaging in the discussions.
