Meeting with Celine Gauer, Director-General for Energy, at DG ENER
In early September, Efficient Buildings Europe and its members were welcomed by DG ENER, where we met Celine Gauer, Director-General for Energy at the European Commission.
In a context of growing international tensions around energy security and increasingly frequent heatwaves, we discussed the importance of the effective implementation of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) to reduce energy bills and improve living and working conditions for citizens and businesses across Europe.
We also discussed the importance of continuity and market predictability as the EU shapes its post-2030 framework for energy efficiency. The efficient buildings industry has invested significantly in Europe over recent years, and a clear and ambitious energy efficiency objective beyond 2030 will be essential to maintain this momentum, provide the certainty needed for further investment, and deliver the transformation Europe needs.
A big thank you to Celine Gauer for the open and valuable exchange, to DG ENER for welcoming us, and to our members for their continued support, active participation and presence.
