Efficient Buildings Europe at the event of the US Embassy in Paris to celebrate the restoration of the Notre-Dame Cathedral

The 5th of December marked a monumental moment for Paris with the reopening of Notre-Dame Cathedral, a symbol of history, art, and resilience. We are proud to celebrate this achievement, especially as Autodesk, one of our members, played a crucial role in its restoration.

Autodesk’s cutting-edge technology helped create a highly detailed digital model of the cathedral through comprehensive internal and external scans. This digital model allowed restoration teams to simulate design changes, analyse materials, and study light effects—all without needing to be physically on-site. By anticipating structural challenges, they saved valuable time and improved the restoration’s precision.

AI-powered digital modelling was key, enabling modern design approaches through the creation of digital twins. Beyond restoration, Autodesk’s technologies can preserve cultural heritage by creating digital archives of historical landmarks, ensuring they endure future crises.

We are honoured to see our members’ expertise contribute to restoring such a global treasure, blending technology with heritage preservation for future generations.

Thank you to Autodesk for the invitation to the event of the US Embassy in Paris and congratulations! It is brilliant to see how forward-thinking and advanced technologies can greatly contribute to such complex works.
