Energy efficiency for energy security: industry input to produce energy savings and system efficiency gains across the European Union
The present document is the contribution of a broad industrial ecosystem to the European Commission’s AccelerateEU task to develop a catalogue of replicable measures to produce energy savings and system efficiency gains for the EU Energy Ministers that will gather in Cyprus on 13 May 2026.
This updated catalogue presents cross-sectoral, readily deployable energy efficiency technologies and solutions that can strengthen energy security, alongside industry commitment to support the development of concrete action plans for their large-scale implementation.
The catalogue analyses eight different areas where energy-efficient technologies can enhance energy security:
- Building’s technical systems
- Passive energy efficiency solutions
- Lighting system
- Industrial energy efficiency
- Efficiency, flexibility and decentralisation in the energy system
- Water and energy savings
- High efficiency appliances
- Nature-based solutions for efficiency and resilience
The energy-efficient building industry is committed to supporting the development of concrete action plans for the large-scale implementation of these technologies.
