MEPs must support the compromise amendment on the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive revision

We – a coalition of 38 built environment stakeholder groups representing over 6,000 organisations across Europe- are calling on Members of the European Parliament to support the compromise approved by the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE).

The cross-party compromise on the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) revision achieved by the European People’s Party, Socialists & Democrats, Renew Europe, European Green Party and the Left was achieved after many months of detailed discussions and represents a fair and balanced deal that will deliver for all Europeans.

The compromise agreement will:
● Tackle climate change and ensure that EU citizens enjoy better-quality buildings
● Create 3.3 million high-quality green jobs in the EU each year1
● Decrease dependence on Russian gas and bolster energy security
● Bring35million EU citizens out of energy poverty2

In the upcoming EPBD plenary vote, your constituents need you to unite behind this compromise and vote in favour so that the legislative process can conclude in a timely manner.

As shown by the support of this broad coalition detailed below, the building sector is in favour of this EPBD revision and is ready to deliver the positive changes it will bring for European people and society.

WorldGBC and the 37 organisations below from across the building value chain call on MEPs to support the ITRE Committee’s agreement on the EPBD revision. We must act now to embrace the full range of benefits of a sustainable building stock.
