Rémi Collombet on Energy Performance Certificates and the EPBD recast
Our Head of EU Policy, Rémi Collombet, discussed the challenges and opportunities of the recast Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) and the role of Energy Performance Certificates with Emmanuelle Causse, Secretary General of the International Union of Property Owners (UIPI), in an article by the iEPB LIFE project, “Unlocking the potential of Energy Performance Certificates: a key to greener buildings”.
Rémi’s three points:
- Energy renovations deliver day-to-day affordability and healthier buildings.
- The Commission and national governments must now focus on the enabling framework: stable national requirements and support schemes, access to private investment, reliable tools such as Energy Performance Certificates and renovation passports, and skills.
- Now is the time for stakeholders to engage at national level, as governments are preparing their National Building Renovation Plans.
Efficient Buildings Europe will remain active throughout the EPBD implementation phase to empower national civil servants and stakeholders, including through our webinar on Minimum Energy Performance Standards on 19 March.
