Creating a dedicated Renovation Fund in the EU Recovery and Resilience Initiative
The EU was planning to assign vast amounts to its Recovery and Resilience Initiative to lift the economy out of the recession caused by the pandemic and put it on the path to climate neutrality by 2050. The energy renovation of the building stock is recognised at all political levels as one of the sectors with the most promise to stimulate the economy, and the Commission was preparing its Renovation Wave for September 2020.
For the Renovation Wave to succeed, human, financial and technological resources will have to be mobilised rapidly and on a massive scale. Ahead of it, the Renovate Europe Campaign answered the most frequently asked questions on building renovation and proposed a dedicated Renovation Fund within the Recovery and Resilience Initiative, ring-fenced for energy renovation programmes.
