Decarbonised Buildings: far-fetched or achievable?
2019 Business Day – Decarbonised buildings, far-fetched or achievable?
The Business Day is an annual event organised by EuroACE to discuss current and future trends affecting the buildings sector, with a forward-looking perspective to impact policy developments. In 2019, it addressed the topic “Decarbonised Buildings: far-fetched or achievable?”
Amid the preparations for the new European Commission to take office, we discussed with members, partners and other stakeholders past achievements, future trends and upcoming challenges for the buildings sector.
“We are looking forward to a fruitful cooperation in the next five years with the Commission, the Parliament, the Member States, but also other stakeholders active in the buildings sector, be it financial institutions, cities, craftsmen representatives, other industries. We all need to continue collaborating and create a true sense of community if we want to achieve our goal of a highly efficient and decarbonised building stock by 2050,” said Céline Carré, President of EuroACE.
At our Back-to-School Cocktail, keynote speaker Hans van Steen, Director for ‘Renewables, Energy Efficiency, Research and Innovation’ at DG Energy, reminded us that buildings need to be the centrepiece of EU energy and climate policies to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. Ana Cunha Cribellier from Deerns presented the longer-term opportunities for the sector.
