EUSEW 2017: Energy renovation for the consumer, with the consumer

During the 2017 EU Sustainable Energy Week, EuroACE organised a session moderated by journalist James Crisp on how to deliver clean buildings for all and how to help citizens through the energy renovation maze, moving from Energy Performance Certificates to Building Renovation Passports.

At a time when the Council and Parliament were discussing the energy efficiency files, the event showed that it is crucial to get homeowners and tenants on board for the energy transition. To kickstart energy renovations, consumers need Building Renovation Passports as well as energy renovation advice. Participants had a live demonstration of a Building Renovation Passport, a document that outlines a long-term, step-by-step renovation roadmap for a specific building.

“To make significant progress in improving the energy performance and efficiency of our buildings, we will have to find ways of bringing consumers along the road with us,” said Adrian Joyce, EuroACE Secretary General. The energy transition is for the consumer, but it also needs to be done with the consumer.
