EuroACE workshop on EPBD and EED implementation and Structural Funds in Hungary

On 7 May 2014, EuroACE held a workshop in Budapest on the implementation of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) and the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED) in Hungary, and on the new financing opportunities for buildings in the 2014-2020 Structural Funds. EuroACE member company GE Lighting hosted the workshop at its Lighting Experience Center.

In the morning, Adrian Joyce, Secretary General of EuroACE, presented the main aspects of the two Directives and what they meant for the existing building stock in Hungary. Professor Andras Zold (Debrecen University) and Shayna Prunier (Hungarian Green Building Council) then gave an overview of implementation in Hungary, from renovation roadmaps to the renovation of public buildings and energy savings obligations. ROCKWOOL Hungary, Philips Hungary and Siemens followed with short interventions on the impact on the market.

The afternoon focused on financing. The National Innovation Office presented the new Structural Funds opportunities for buildings, OTP Bank and the Hungarian Institute for Energy Efficiency (MEHI) discussed how to combine public and private investment, and GESB presented the Retrofit Revolving Loan Guarantee Fund as a case study.

The workshop was moderated by Bruno Pedrotti (Philips), Chair of the EuroACE Working Group on Implementation of EU Directives.
