Renovate Europe Day 2023 in Madrid

Time to Act: Spain as a driving force on Building Renovation

Renovate Europe Day 2023 took place in Madrid during the Spanish Presidency of the EU: a moment to take stock of progress in the Spanish context, take inspiration from good examples on the ground and better understand why an ambitious Buildings Directive is crucial for energy security, climate action, citizens and the industrial competitiveness of Europe.

The conference was held at the European Commission Representation in Madrid, with English and Spanish interpretation, and co-organised with Renovate España (Green Building Council España and the Confederación Nacional de la Construcción), Ecodes and Climate Action Network (CAN) Europe.

With the revision of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive entering its final trilogues, EU Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson took part by video, alongside Marcos Ros Sempere MEP, the Spanish Ministry for the Urban Agenda, the City of Madrid, and speakers from industry, civil society and national partners of the campaign.
