C4E Forum 2023 in Šamorín
The fourth Central and Eastern European Energy Efficiency Forum (C4E Forum) took place from 23 to 26 May 2023 in Šamorín, Slovakia, under the patronage of the President of the Slovak Republic, Zuzana Čaputová. Its three key topics were energy security, the rebuilding of Ukraine and EU policy, from REPowerEU to the Fit for 55 package.
Over three days, the Forum held 2 plenary sessions, 16 panel sessions, 7 workshops and its traditional Controversial Ideas session, and showed a poster session for the first time. Addressing participants, President Čaputová said that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine had increased the urgency of energy transition policies, and that “supporting the Renovation Wave […] will help reduce energy bills. This could be a real gamechanger.”
Jan Kříž, Deputy Minister at the Czech Ministry of the Environment, received the first C4E Champion Award, which recognises public officials in the region who have advanced energy efficiency policies. The Forum’s sponsors, Daikin, Danfoss, Knauf Insulation, ROCKWOOL Group, Saint-Gobain, Signify and VELUX, signed a joint commitment to raise the profile of building renovation and energy efficiency in Central and Eastern Europe.
