EuroACE/NFOŚiGW workshop on EPBD and EED implementation in Poland

On 4 November 2015, EuroACE and the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW) organised a workshop in Warsaw on the implementation of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) and the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED) to stimulate energy efficiency in buildings in Poland. The workshop was part of the 77th Forum Effect-Energy-Environment and was sponsored by EuroACE member company United Technologies.

Małgorzata Skucha, President of the Management Board of NFOŚiGW, opened the workshop. Adrian Joyce, Secretary General of EuroACE, presented the main aspects of the two Directives and their implications for the Polish building stock. Representatives of the Polish ministries, of the European Commission (Santiago Gonzalez Herraiz, DG ENER) and of the Buildings Performance Institute Europe (Szymon Firląg) then gave their views on implementation in Poland.

In the afternoon, stakeholders discussed the uptake of energy efficiency in buildings in Poland: NFOŚiGW’s support for deep renovation and energy efficient new buildings, the link between building performance and air quality, better Energy Performance Certificates, energy-efficient construction, and a national long-term renovation strategy focused on single-family houses.

The workshop was chaired by Bruno Pedrotti (Philips), Chair of the EuroACE Working Group on Implementation of Directives, and Wojciech Stawiany (NFOŚiGW).
