A New Era for the European Renovation Wave, sharing perspectives

The Renovate Europe Campaign joined C40 Cities, the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (GCoM) and the Covenant of Mayors Europe in organising this event in Brussels.

Building renovations are key to improving energy efficiency and energy security, lowering energy bills, creating local green jobs and improving quality of life, and cities play a key role in delivering the benefits of fossil-free and energy-efficient buildings. Ahead of the European elections, mayors, deputy mayors, business associations, EU policymakers and other stakeholders took stock of progress and discussed the future of building renovation after the update of EU climate and energy legislation.

After a keynote by Brian Motherway (IEA), speakers from DG ENER, the European Investment Bank, the cities of Velenje, Rome and Antwerp, Housing Europe, SolarPower Europe and Knauf Insulation discussed what comes next for building renovation in Europe and how cities and stakeholders can cooperate to boost local action. Adrian Joyce, Director of the Renovate Europe Campaign, gave the concluding remarks.
