Residential Care Homes, Ireland

A project by the South East Energy Agency tackling energy poverty in 1970s residential care homes. After renovation in 2024, all units moved from a C, E, F or G rating to an A rating.

Building envelope and structure

Walls, roof, windows, and doors were all renovated.

Heating and energy

Mechanical ventilation was installed, renewable energy incorporated in the project included heat pumps, Air to Water heating systems with fully integrated heating controls and solar PV.

Energy performance

All units passed from a BER rating of C, E, G or F to a A BER rating after the renovation works.
